southern Arizona and northern Mexico to explore the Border lands. Our trip took us over a thousand miles, from the old-west town of Tombstone to the Gulf of Cortez, crossing the border at Nogales, Sonoyta, and Mexicali. These are the lands of  “basin and range” geology, the routes of the Spanish “missions,” and the hunting grounds of the US-Mexican border patrols.
