When they close off a street in Chicago, it’s usually for a parade. So when the superstar of “Public Enemies” arrived for the premiere of his new Chicago-based movie, the crowd stood transfixed and on tiptoes. Depp edged east along Illinois Street greeting his fans and signing anything they laid in front of him.  Hopefully Chicago moviegoers will be as generous toward Depp’s portrayal of their hometown gangster-heroes in this latest Universal release.    June 19, 2009
